Water with a higher pH, either naturally or via an ioniser.

Where it comes from

Water with a pH above 7, from mineral-rich sources or an electric ioniser/added minerals.

What it contains

  • Higher pH
  • Often added minerals such as calcium, magnesium, potassium

Benefits

  • Hydrates like any water
  • pleasant to some

Cautions

  • Health claims ("neutralising body acid") are not supported by good evidence — the body tightly controls its own pH
  • Usually pricey
